Back in 2002, when I
first created As Cute As
It Gets my simple goal
was to offer other
parents what I
personally as a mom
WISHED other
photographers out there
could somehow offer. I
had gone to several mall
studios and visited
several mid to high end
private studios and
always came away
disappointed in several
aspects, mainly with
their rush rush approach
and strained ability
to work well with
children, which were
both tied at the top of
my list. A super close
second on my list was to
find a studio that
offered the super cute
themes found on
calendars, coffee table
books and other
products. I searched and
searched and spent and
spent trying to find the
right studio, but
eventually realized that I would simply NEVER find
a studio offering
everything that I had
wanted. I began to dream
of what that studio
would be like and
decided the answer was
to create it myself.
I have spent the last
six years in tireless
pursuit of perfecting my
craft and offering all
the things I feel
parents like myself
want....turning As Cute
As It Gets into the fun
and dynamic studio I
envisioned. A happy
result of my efforts has
been that I have
fortunately developed a wide
and loyal following. I
feel thrilled to have
come as far as I have in
the short time I have
been at it, and with the
passion I have for
making As
Cute As It Gets the best
it can be, know the
studio will continue to
grow and offer more and
more cool things over
the years. This is not just
for my own selfish needs as a picture-happy mom
(I get to use the studio
and all it offers to my
heart's content for my
own kids!!), but really
for all the parents out there that have also dreamily imagined what the perfect
photography studio experience should be.
I have a lot of people
counting on me now!!So
for those new to my work
and website , as you look down the following list
of those things, I hope that you will breathe a sigh of relief and say
"Finally!" and give me a call!
|

As a mom of two active boys myself, I absolutely, positively decided that the
first thing I needed to offer other parents out there were loooooong
private sessions
if they wanted them. This allows for plenty of time to accommodate breaks for
your little one to get their wiggles out, get their well deserved hugs for a
doing a great job, have a snack or use the restroom. If you have an infant,
then this time is great for you to change diapers, and breast/bottle feed. This
long session time also allows ample time to change costumes and themes or
switch outfits, so you can make the most out of your session with me.
Everyone's child is of course different,
and some families may
choose not book a two
hour session and instead
go with my half hour or
one hour session, but it
is just important to me
to let everyone know I
offer ample time if
desired. :) I even try
to make my Portrait
Event sessions
long...usually 30
minutes, which ample
time for the single
theme my events offer. |
Lots and Lots of Portraits taken!
I take a ton of portraits! My goal is the same as yours...to capture the
true smile, sweet glance or impish expression that melts your heart. I
take tons of portraits....this way you get not just a few you love out of the
session, but tons that you utterly adore! The hardest part of your whole
experience with me should be to separate the super cute proofs from the really
cute proofs!
|

I have one of THE coolest professional digital cameras out there and absolutely
love it! All portraits,
canvases, and cards are printed from
the nation's most
revered professional lab using the highest
quality portrait paper. This
is the same paper that
film images are printed
on, so it has the same
archival qualities,
lasting generations to
come.
Being digital allows for several things that make As Cute As It Gets
particularly awesome!
| 1) |
Instant viewing of the portrait! |
| |
When in studio, you and I can instantly see the portrait on a flat screen
in-wall monitor...or when outdoors on location, through my camera’s LCD
screen. When your little ones are having a break, I love to forward through
them with you, just so you can see all the amazing portraits we’ve taken and
know that you can leave the session knowing you have the images you came for. |

Complimentary Black & White or Sepia! |

I can make your images what you need them to be...it’s kinda neat to place a

and makes for a more interesting wall!

Tinting made affordable! |
| |
Once I turned digital about
a year into
As Cute As
It Gets, I was forced to cast aside
my oils and offer my beautifully tinted images through the latest in software.
This offers several advantages over the traditional hand tinting I used to
do…plus, um, it is less messy.
A) Pricing for digital tinting is super affordable...my tinting ranges on
average from $10 to $75 per file. Once your digital file is tinted...its
tinted...prints of it are sold at the normal portrait pricing. Normal oil hand
tinting is obviously done on the print itself and thus charged per print
tinted, so multiple copies of a image being tinted can really add up if you are
having it done each time by hand. This digital method makes it just soooo
amazingly affordable, particularly if you need multiple copies for family and
friends. This also means that your tinted images can be smaller than
traditional tinted images...you can finally have tinted wallets, 4x6’s,
announcement cards, holiday cards and invitations...how cute would that be?!?
Your tinted images can also be used for all of my products, including purses
and jewelry. Plus all your tinted images go on any photo CD that you get!
B) As the tints are digital, you get to see proofs of them for your review and
approval before we send them off to the lab. We can then fine tune the tinting
if necessary... lightning or darkening the tinting... something you would never
be able to do with oils. I also place the tinted elements in “layers”
...allowing me to turn on and off areas of tinting...which is a big plus too.

review. I am soooo thrilled to offer so many options!.

As a mom that has always
been in love with themed photography, it is my goal to attract the
parents that have been searching for a photographer that offers cute costume
and unique themes. Many of the themes I offer were created for my own children
in mind....well, except the girl centered ones, because, uh, I have two
boys…but if...I mean WHEN…I have a little girl, she is literally spending her
every free moment in front of my camera captured in ALL these costumes! (Can
you hear the “tick-tick-tick” or is it just me?) So until then, I will live
vicariously through the moms who bring little girls. Girl sessions are always a
treat for me.…the girls want to be photographed in everything I have…their moms
have to beg them to leave at the end of the session.
I urge parents to pick several themes for the session to make the most of your
time with me! When booking your session over the phone, I will ask which
costumes/themes you would like your little one to be photographed in, so I can
have the costumes, props and corresponding backdrops pulled, set-up and ready
for your session. Please feel free to bring some of your favorite outfits too,
as I know many families want a traditional portrait or two on the wall!
My every spare moment away from my own kids is spent eagerly planning new
costumes and themes, tirelessly searching for supplies and then of
course…excitingly putting it all together! The busier I get with As Cute As It
Gets, the less time I seem to have to do this, so I launch new costumes/themes
about two or three times a year.
Since 2007 was so busy
for me, I have quite the
list of new events for
2008.

With a minimum order of $2500 you can get a complimentary 4x6 resolution disc
of all the images you have ordered portraits or enlargements of. The disc comes
with a letter of release, allowing you to go ahead and legally have reprints
made of the images at any photo processing establishment or online
service.
The disc comes with an official photography release, allowing you to take the
image to any photo processing counter or send the images off to any online
printing service with my full permission. It is important to me to mention the
value of the disc and release form. There are actually families out there
that are not aware that they aren't supposed to copy professional images
without the photographer's permission. It is my job in this profession to
educate everyone that the PPA (Professional Photographers of America), of which
I am a very active member, works hard to make sure stores and online services
ask for a release form if the portrait appears to be a professional image. I
have had clients cell phone me from Costco or Target saying that they weren't
being allowed to pick up their prints without a release because the images
on the disc they
made themselves from
scanning my
professional images
appeared to be professional
and that they needed
me to fax something
in. This sort of
scenario is just
kinda awkward for
everyone involved,
so I try to let
everyone know that
my artist is
absolutely
reproducible with
the minimal
investment. Very few established photographers
release their images....because it is technically loss of future revenue. I
offer the disc, along with other complimentary products for ordering at certain
amounts, because it is just a nice thank you for those making a
substantial investment. I believe that my clients deeply appreciate this
feature, and will be back and again and again over the years because of my
offering it. I try to make the disc an attractive option by placing on every
image you ordered in gift portrait or enlargement form...these images
absolutely include any retouching I happen to have done, as well any editing or
tinting you have paid for when you ordered those images. The signed release
allows you to do any non commercial thing you want with it! I do not however
include on the disc the images that required super specialized custom art
creation like collages, cards/announcements or my Baby Bits images. Due to the
extensive work that went into creating them, it is important that they are the
products I only sell. I am sure you understand.
So having the disc it a great thing! It will produce an image way better
in quality than one you scan anyway. This disc will print up to 4x6
images beautifully! You can also use the disc to pop into your computer
to e-mail images or create a screen saver with as well! So for the moms who
scrapbook...this is a dream come true! For those with a ton of family...a big
savings! For those that like to make their own cards and announcements, a big
help!
The PPA (Professional Photographers of America) works hard to educate about US
Copyright Laws, and comes down hard on establishments that do not ask for the
release form when printing up what appears to be a professional portrait
whether it be on disc or your actual real portrait . Copying images without my
permission just isn't ethical, and is against US Copyright laws, just like
pirating music and movies off the internet...actually only worse, because I am
not a giant conglomerate company able to absorb such big losses. I am sure you
understand. As for the non-ordered images on disc, I do not release
them... I like to only give you the retouched, color corrected, and
appropriately cropped versions of your images so they print out
beautifully!
Years ago I used to offer all the images from the session on the
discs...meaning every portrait you taken...but ran into two unexpected
problems. Even though it was clearly stated that the disc contained all the
final corrected versions of the portraits ordered and then all the other,
unretouched portraits that weren't cropped or color corrected, clients were
printing them all up and calling saying that they just didn't look as good as
the corrected versions next to one another in a frame. The unretouched images
were never intended as a replacement for ordering, they were more of a memory
disc so that years down the line a parent could look through them again and
smile at over a hundred images of their little ones at a particular moment way
back when. This happened over and over again, so I just stopped doing it.
The second dilemma came with those that would print up the unretouched
portraits that weren't color corrected, cropped, etc. and have them enlarged
well beyond the 4x6 resolution they came in, and put them in a frame next to
the corrected versions and not notice the difference. I just really take
such pride and delight in my final images and want everyone who sees them at
your home, workplace, or scrapbooking night to be dazzled and ask where you had
them done!
Hi-res versions of the images are not
available so please do
not ask.... selling them
would really defeat the purpose of
being in business, and I
work so, so hard to
offer what my studio
features. It is heart
breaking to me that
there are non
professional
photographers out there
that do what is called
in the professional
industry as "shoot and
dump", which is taking
pictures and handing
their clients the full
disc of their uncropped,
non-color corrected,
unretouched images.
Avoid photographers like
these like the
plague...they ruin the
industry....they are
just trying to make a
fast dollar and are not
invested in proper
education for themselves
to become a professional
and do what they do
because they can't be
bothered with the hours
of customer service our
industry strives to
provide for each client.

My being super silly and playful with my own kids is what mainly prepares me
for being great with your kids...but I have to say too that after having
photographed thousands of children I truly know what strange sound or funny
phrase works perfectly for each age group. Parents delight in my boundless
energy, zany approaches and impressive patience.....my goal is your goal...to
get that perfect little smile, serious glance or impish grin that makes your
heart melt. Personally, I feel the most wonderful feeling of accomplishment
every time I capture your child truly laughing. Nothing is better than
getting a child to show their true smile...the one where their eyes light up
with pure joy. Those are the portraits I want of my own kids. I have been
told by many a mom that I am the best in the business based on this one
quality! I love my career...every second behind the camera is truly a blast!
I am often asked if I do any unposed portraits, and my answer is yes...I do all
the time. Many of my session require images that are more
photojournalistic and spontaneous in feel, particularly my outdoor
sessions...where I capture your kids climbing trees, throwing leaves, jumping
off rocks and building sandcastles. For studio portraits, it depends upon what
type of theme we are doing at the time. Some themes, such as formal
portraiture, ideally have a serious look or slight smile. That is something we
decide upon when planning your session, and I set the tone to achieve that look
during our time in studio. I like to start with those, because once I get kids
laughing...there is usually no going back. Some of my themes like Funny Faces
or other themes that lend themselves to having a Fun Art Collage Creation done,
definitely need serious expressions, as well as a host of other non smiling
ones. Those sessions also require jumping or dancing...kids just being
kids....the more varied images on a collage, the better!! For the
majority of themed studio portraiture though, I go for the big grins, as
that what this type of photography suggests...playful and fun! Years of acting
dorky and fun with my own children has lent itself to my being able to
fascinate babies, make toddlers giggle and bigger kids roll with hearty
laughter in front of me. That is what I do best. If there is one thing my
Customer Comments section is full of, it is the recurring compliment on my
ability to offer portraits that show the true smiles from their children... I
find a way to let their playful, giggly self pop right out. It is my absolute
favorite part of what I do, and I get the greatest feeling when I see that
first giant smile.
Of course, for some babies and children that tend to be low-key in personality,
or have special needs, the whole high-energy thing just doesn't fly. I am
clearly aware of this...I can usually immediately sense before we start if your
child would prefer a more traditional approach and happily switch into a
totally different gear!
I have finished my accreditation training from the SKPA (Special Kids
Photographers of America) to further my abilities to work amazingly well
with children that are differently abled. I have several parents that love that
I am so confident in my ability to find comfortable poses and appropriate
themes for their special children. On a personal level, you may find it
helpful to know that my oldest son has Bipolar Disorder. I live day and night
with the many components of his disorders, so working with children that
require extreme patience and less common approaches comes second nature to me!
I will be fully certified with the SKPA as soon as I get the moment to send in
examples of my work with differently abled kids. It is on my giant to-do
list. ( Sigh. )

As you can imagine from looking at my themes, I tend to like the cutesy things
the world has to offer. For the last few years of being in business, I have
held back from offering products with my images on them, because I wanted the
cutest that existed! I have looked and looked at the photo products out there,
and can finally say I have found my favorites. 2008 will be the year that they
all will be launched. Purses, diaper bags, necklaces, bracelets, rings,
watches, one of a kind frames created by local artists, t-shirts
and onsies, ties, aprons, cutting boards and other unique
kitchen decor such as tiles and trivets, blankets, towels, pillows, mousepads,
acrylic sculptures, dry erase boards, notepads, calendars, photo stamps, car
flags, tow hitches, tapestries, lifesize
standees are all the
products I am currently
adding. Some were added
in 2007 and have sold
amazingly well because
they are really hard to
resist! |

I have chosen my pricing
with great care. I tried
to think about what I
have personally spent as
a consumer with other
photographers and
studios prior to
starting As Cute As it
Gets, and have
researched what other
higher end boutique
studios are charging and
considered the hundreds
of thousands invested in
the themes I so uniquely
offer. For lack of a better analogy,
the first thing I can say is that it is important to compare apples against
apples when researching photography. I really urge families not to try to
compare a proper professional photographer with a mall studio.
I can go one step
further and also offer
that not all proper
professional photography
studios go to the extent
of being a boutique
studio that is designed
around offering unique
themes and exemplary
customer service. The process from start
to finish at each type
of studio is just so different that you can't make a fair comparison.
It is my goal that your experience
is absolutely custom tailored to your specific requests and needs. Professional photographers
like myself generally
have invested lots and
lots of time in
education to become an
expert in their field,
and certainly in my
case, have chosen to
specialize in a
particular type of
photography. I
specialize in children's
themed portraiture. You
will not find many
photographers out there
that offer themes...as a
parent myself, that was
the main reason I
started As Cute As It
Gets. This type of
photography is my utter
love and joy, and I
absolutely wanted to
share it other moms and
dads! Creating all the
one of a kind themes and
costumes I offer has
required an absolutely
amazing investment on my
part...happily done of
course! Having a staff
of talented post
production artists to
spend hours turning your
images into works of the
works of art also
requires my pricing to
be where it is. There
are so, so many factors
worked into my pricing,
and believe it or not, I
am at the lower end of
what a studio like mine
charges. My goal is
hands down provide you
you and your little ones
with an amazing session
that results in a highly
customized creation of
gorgeous art to truly
melt your heart with and
adorn your home with.
I have a
vested interest in making sure you are delighted and return again and
again. I could list the giant list of what is wrong with mall studios
and the other
photographers out there
that are giving less
than 100%,
but I have a feeling if you are
on my site you probably could whole heartedly
recite 99% of the things on that list anyway. So that means that you will be
sure not to compare me against
a mall studio, but
rather against other private professional photographers
that have stunning
images and detailed
websites like mine to
allow you to get to know
their love of what they
do. I am friends with many other talented
photographers in the
area and in Southern California...we
all have different
specialties and all
believe in giving our
clients our all. The reason I write so much in this part
of the website is that hopefully after reading this you will really know if I
am the photographer for you or not. Having a photographer that you click with
and communicate with truly increases the likelihood of your being delighted
with your experience. I
hope to attract parents
that hands down believe
what I offer is what
they have been searching
for as I created As Cute
As It Gets to meet the
needs of those not
getting them meet
elsewhere. I absolutely
have the right way of doing business, where moms and dads walk away thrilled
at the experience & value they received, and are super eager to refer me to
neighbors, friends and family! So to wrap this section up...in consideration of
all the things I offer , I have chosen to go pricing comparable to other photographers
at this stage of their career. I feel my pricing is full of flexibility
and options....and straightforward as can be. I have an extensive pricing
section......I do not believe in the whole "tell em after the portraits are
taken" approach. My prices are listed, and explained fully, so you can come to
your session knowing exactly what the investment will be to have such amazingly
unique portraits.
The mere concept of what I offer...super long sessions with tons of portraits
taken, a pleasurable and
easy ordering experince,
complimentary retouching
and affordable editing
and tinting, cute
costumes and themes, and
unparalleled customer
service...are things
that clients just marvel
about afterwards.
Parents are honestly
delighted to have found me and
sessions end with enthusiastic thanks for providing such a refreshing
experience. My goal is to set myself apart from everything else out
there! Within minutes of your arrival for your session, you see how
different As Cute As It Gets is...and by the delivery of your portraits, you
simply are convinced of it! And that is a wonderful feeling. For you...and of
course, me! Every appointment I have absolutely affirms my choice to start As
Cute As It Gets. (big smile!) I LOVE WHAT I DO...and thankfully everyone tells
me over and over again that it shows!
